Painter, Virginia - Greenville  
Virginia P. Painter Greenville Virginia P. Painter, 86, died Thursday, April 28, 2016. Born in Gaffney, she was the daughter of the late Talmadge Spurgeon and Era Lounette Horne Phillips. Mrs. Painter retired from Southern Weaving Company. Surviving are former husband and father of her children, William Harold Painter; children, Bill Painter and wife, Michelle, Merri Gillespie and husband, Phil, and Brian Painter and wife, Janet; grandchildren, Jason, Summer, Emily, Madison, and Dawson; great grandchild, Adrianne; and brother, Marvin Phillips. She was preceded in death by son, Steve Painter; grandson, Will Painter; four brothers and a sister. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 30, 2016 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Entombment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621. Phillips, Lois  
Lois Owen Kilpatrick Phillips Greenville Lois Owen Kilpatrick Phillips, 97, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 27, 2016. Lois was born on August 4, 1918, in Pickens County, South Carolina, to the late O. Melton and Addie Lee Owen. She is the surviving member of her four siblings: Mrs. W. B. (Zola) Turner, Mrs. J. L. (Ora Lee) Long, Mrs. L. J. (Vivian Barnett) Nassar, and Garnett T. Owen. After attending Parker High School and graduating from Draughon's Business College, she served as secretary for several companies in the Greenville area. Lois was married to Claude M. Kilpatrick, Sr. for 35 years. After his death in 1972, she married Fred W. Phillips in 1976. Fred and Lois were members of Pendleton Street Baptist Church where Lois attended the Fidelis Sunday School Class and served as the "Sunshine Lady" who visited shut-in members of the class. She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Lt. Col. (Ret.) Claude M. (Sam) Kilpatrick (Brigitte) of Tampa, FL, Rev. Dr. Joseph W. Kilpatrick (Mary Ann) of Lakeland, FL, and Ronald D. Kilpatrick (Jenell) of Greenville, SC; two step-daughters: Nancy Phillips Sebastianelli (Armie) of Burke, VA, and Libby Phillips Meggs (Phil, deceased) of Midlothian, VA, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Lois' life was a beautiful testimony of her steadfast faith in Jesus Christ. She was a beautiful lady and devoted mother who gave unconditional love and encouragement to her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Lois's funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 3 at 3 pm at the Woodlawn Funeral Home in Greenville. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm before the funeral service. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. Pitts, Hazel Lorene - Commerce Township  
Hazel Lorene Pitts Commerce Township, MI Hazel Lorene Pitts, 90, Greenville, SC (currently of Commerce Township, MI), widow of Robert Mellette Pitts, deceased, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016. Born in Glencoe, OK she was the daughter of Sylvia Effie Leota Morgan and Carl George Luther. Hazel moved as a child to Davison, MI, grew up in Detroit where she graduated in 1944 from Eastern High School. In 1944 she married her high school sweetheart. They celebrated their 70th anniversary in 2014. Together they raised a family in Redford Township and Plymouth, MI. Hazel was a bookkeeper, most notably for her husband's company, Arpee Co., Inc. She enjoyed sewing, bowling, golf and volunteering with the Plymouth and Greenville Literacy Associations, ushering at the Greenville Little Theatre and her membership in The Order of the Eastern Star. In retirement Hazel moved with Robert to Greenville, SC in 1993 where she joined Northside United Methodist Church and the Poinsett Woman's Club. Hazel is survived by daughter, Lorene McVey (Paul) of MI, son Jeffery Pitts (Judy) of MI; son Kenneth Pitts (Lisa) of MO; eight grandchildren-Robert Pitts, Rex Spoutz, Eric Pitts, Teressa Lee, Karen Feeney, Carl Pitts, Nicole Pitts and James Pitts; three great grandsons, seven great granddaughters and one great-great grandson. Visitation will be held Tuesday, June 21 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m. at Walled Lake United Methodist Church, 313 Northport, Walled Lake, MI. A memorial service will take place at 5:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to Greenville Literacy Association, 225 S. Pleasantburgh Dr., Ste. Pratt Jr., Bonner - Greenville  
Bonner Pratt, Jr. Greenville Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Pratt will be 2:00PM Tuesday at Overbrook Baptist Church. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Burts Bonner Pratt, Jr., passed away on Saturday, April 30, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital. Born in Liberty he was a son of the late Burts Bonner, Sr. and Frances Boggs Pratt. He retired as the Department Head of Tri-County Technical College's Textile Manufacturing Program, and was a member of Overbrook Baptist Church. Mr. Pratt was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean War, and was a graduate of Clemson University, and was also a member of the Hejaz Shrine Temple. Surviving are his wife, Nannie Mae Rich Pratt of the home; two brothers, Joseph A. Pratt (Mary Ann) of Chester,VA, and Paul David Pratt (Jane) of Liberty; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Bonner Pratt, four sisters, Mary Frances Proffitt, Kathryn Blackwell, Eleanor Williams, and Aletha Smith, and two brothers, Kyle Pratt and Robert "Bobby" Pratt. In lieu of flowers memorials are requested to the Pat Pratt Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 2848, Greenville SC 29602-2848, thru the School District of Greenville County, with the proceeds going to the Wade Hampton High School Library, or Overbrook Baptist Church, 1705 East North Street, Greenville SC 29607. The family will be at their respective homes. Liberty Mortuary is handling arrangements.
