Youmans, John - Travelers Rest  
JOHN YOUMANS Travelers Rest John H. Youmans, 82, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 at his home. Born in Emanuel County, GA, on May 9, 1932, he was the son of the late Grady and Rozzie Youmans. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a US Army veteran. Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ann Turner Youmans; a daughter, Jill Stephens; two grandsons, Josh and Jason Stephens; a granddaughter, Danielle Youmans; a niece, Rhonda Turner, and two nephews, Stan and Lindsey Roundtree. Along with his parents, Mr. Youmans was predeceased by two sons, John M. Youmans and Terry F. Youmans, and a sister, Beverly Roundtree. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Coleman Memorial Cemetery. The family will be at the home. Skip Burnette Greenwood Ralph B. 'Skip' Burnette, 71, resident of Chinquapin Road, husband of Margaret M. Whitt-Burnette, died Thursday December 18, 2014 at Hospice House. Born in Jesup, Ga. October 25, 1943, he was a son of the late Ralph B. and Helen Smith Burnette. A graduate of Greenwood High School and Lander College, Skip was also a graduate of Clemson University where he received a Forestry Management Degree. He retired from the SC Forestry Commission after serving in the Columbia office and the Spartanburg and Pickens offices. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home is a step-son, David C. Whitt of Atlanta, Ga .; brothers Jack M. (Mary) Burnette of Greenwood and John D. (Tamara) Burnette of Joanna; nephews , Russell (Tammy) Burnette and Monroe (Ronda) Burnette, all of Greenwood. Franklin D. Roosevelt "Rosey" Carlton Greenville Franklin D. Roosevelt Carlton, 82, loving husband of 63 years to Doris Mae Carlton, died Saturday, December 20, 2014. Born in Greenville County, he was the son of the late Benjamin Thomas Carlton and Etta Mae Alexander Carlton. Mr. Carlton owned C & L Roofing for 30 years, enjoyed fishing, and was a member of Church of God of Prophecy. Along with his wife, Doris, Mr. Carlton is survived by a daughter, Ann Landreth; grandchildren, Danielle, Dalton, Tabitha, and Kayla; great grandchild, Brayden; sisters, Etta Mae Kennemore and Joyce Rice; brothers, J.T. Carlton, Lonnie Carlton, and Larry Carlton, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters and six brothers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2014 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest with the funeral service in the chapel on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery West. Goode, James W. - Greer  
James W. Goode Greer James William Goode, 98, of 1467 N. Highway 101, died December 14, 2014 at his home. A native of Spartanburg County, son of the late Monroe and Arabell Southerland Goode, he was a U.S. Army Veteran, a retired employee of the Civil Service Navy Shipyard and a member of Groveland Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Annie Mae Searcy Goode of the home; one son, Daryl Goode of Greer; one sister, Mildred Taylor of Callaway, Georgia; one granddaughter, Jennifer Goode Smith; and one great-granddaughter, Madyson Smith. Mr. Goode was predeceased by one son, Glenn Goode, one brother and one sister. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 22, 2014 at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Chaplain John Elmore. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held 1:00-1:45 p.m. Monday at The Wood Mortuary. The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice. Hawkins, John - Central  
John H. Hawkins Central John Hendrix Hawkins, 73, husband of Pat Maddox Hawkins for 51 years, passed away at his home on Friday, December 19, 2014. Mr. Hawkins was born in Pickens County a son of the late Harold Gaines and Eva Irene Crane Hawkins. He was a retired battalion chief for the Clemson University Fire Department for 33 years and was a member of Cross Road Church of God. From the time he was diagnosed with cancer, John's prayer was for God's will to be done. He was an inspiration to many. Surviving in addition to his wife, is a son, Mark (Tina) Hawkins of Seneca; daughter, Sheri Hawkins (Tammy Jordan) of Phoenix, AZ; a special friend, Stoney Bachman of North, SC; a brother, Benjamin Joe (Norma) Hawkins of Knoxville, TN; sisters, Barbara (Julian) Leroy and Rachael Hawkins of Liberty; two grandchildren, Tara (Ricky) Patterson and Jordan Hawkins; two great grandchildren, Tucker and Levi Patterson. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Aleatha Smith. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 23, 2014, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Memory Gardens, Clemson. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, December 22, 2014, at the funeral home. The family wishes to thank Interim Hospice and a special thanks to Tara and Ricky Patterson for the care given to John during his illness. Martin, Donald Payne - Greensboro  
Donald Payne Martin Greensboro, NC Mr. Donald Payne Martin, 70, died on December 17, 2014 at Moses Cone Hospital. A Requiem Eucharist will be held at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with inurnment to follow in the church columbarium. Donald was born in Greensboro on December 18, 1943 to the late James B. and Macie Tuttle Martin. He graduated from Bessemer High School in 1962, and received a Bachelor of Arts from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill in 1966. He graduated from OCS and Airborne training prior to assignment to combat duties in Vietnam, then served 21 more years in the active and inactive reserve, retiring as a Major. Among his decorations and awards are the Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal with 4 Campaign stars, parachutist badge, and Special Forces Tab. Mr. Martin worked for the General Services Administration, and serving in Washington, Denver, and as the GSA Director for Support Activities in the Far East based in Okinawa, Japan. He elected an early retirement from the Federal Government and moved back to Greensboro. He became Executive Director of the Piedmont Disability Representatives in 2002 and served until September 2014 when he retired. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Haile; son Bryan and wife Elizabeth of Townsend, TN; daughter, Mary Heermans of Greensboro; 5 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by his twin brother, Kenneth and wife Ricky of Greenville, SC; and nieces Kimberly Martin Allred and Stacey Martin. The family asks in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 607 N. Greene St., Greensboro, NC 27401 or a charity of one's choice.
