Campbell, Billy - Easley
Billy Carl Campbell Easley Billy Carl Campbell, 86, passed peacefully from this world on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at home surrounded by his girls. Born on November 3, 1929 in Greenville, he was the oldest child of the late Carl Edward and Margaret "Ethel" Owens Campbell. After 32 years of distinguished service in the United States Air Force he retired as a Colonel and moved back home to the Upstate where he became a realtor. He was also active in the Pickens County Red Cross and was instrumental in the building of the Cherokee Foothills Visitor Center at Table Rock through his service with the Pickens County Parks and Tourism Advisory Committee. In all he did he was content to serve behind the scenes. He was cut from a mold that in many ways does not exist today: honest, dependable, humble, dedicated, loyal, quiet, and deeply wise. He knew no scandal and did not stand for gossip. He was the definition of a good man and will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his devoted wife of 63 years, Elizabeth Jacqueline "Jackie" McCrary Campbell, who was the love of his life and cared for him these past years as no one else could; daughters, Julie Campbell Barnett, Leah Campbell Gangloff (Bill), and Leslie Campbell Blakely (Bruce); grandchildren, Jessie and Jonah Barnett, Connor Blakely Godfrey (Cole), Christian Blakely, and Abby and Aiden Gangloff; great grandson, Atley Godfrey; and sisters, Juanita Campbell Carson (Billy) and Fay Campbell Thompson (Bobby). The family would like to express their great appreciation to Wendy Vaughan and the staff of Visiting Angels, whose tremendous care of Bill enabled him to stay home where he was surrounded by love. The family will be at the residence. Condolences may be made to the family by visiting www.thomasmcafee.com . Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest.
