Travelers Rest

Betty Elizabeth Pittman Ward, 78, of 885 Chinquapin Rd. went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Landrum, SC.

She was born May 12, 1934 to the late Wade and Pearl Pritchett Pittman. She was retired from Union Bleachery and a member of Cross Plains Baptist Church. She was a wonderful mother who loved her church and family.

Surviving are her 3 daughters: Joanne Yearwood of Landrum and Kathy Coggins of Blue Ridge and Paige Cobb of Travelers Rest; 2 sons: Larry Pittman of Travelers Rest and Roger Alvin Ward of Indiana; 3 sisters: Pauline Surett, Callie Harris and Louise Surett all of Travelers Rest; 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchidren.

Along with her parents she was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, Alvin Loatan Ward, two brothers and a sister.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at The Howze Mortuary.

Funeral services will be Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Cross Plains Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will be at the home of her daughter, Kathy Coggins.
