Charles Otto White Jr.
Mr. Charles Otto White, Jr., 84, of Greenville died Monday, Feb 11, 2013. Born in Greenville County, a son of the late Charles Otto and Josephine Baxter White, Sr., he attended The Citadel and graduated from Furman University in 1949.
Mr. White was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church and formerly a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church for over 60 years. While there he also served as Deacon, Usher and Chairman of several committees. He recently received a perfect attendance award for 50+ years membership to Greenville Kiwanis Club. He was a Charter Member of the Augusta Road Kiwanis Club. He began his career at the Greenville News. Otto was a Realtor and the owner of his own business for 62 years. He served on the SC Board of Realtors and served as a former President of the Greenville Board. He was an Eagle Scout with the Order of the Arrow. He was a Royal Ambassador plenipotentiary. Otto was on the Board of Visitors for the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary at Wake Forest University. He began a tradition followed by his son and his son's children of attending and supporting YMCA Camp Greenville.
Surviving is his wife, Harriet H. White of Greenville; daughter, Leta W. Adams and granddaughter, Jamie Adams, of Tulsa, OK; daughter-in-law, Dr. Susan White Chastain; grandson, Chip (Allison) White; granddaughter, Beth White; great grandchildren, Charlie, Parker and Finlee White of Atlanta, GA. Otto was predeceased by his parents and son, Charles (Charlie) Otto White, III.
Services will be held 12 Noon Friday, Feb. 15 at Mackey Mortuary Chapel conducted by Rev. Bill West and Dr. Jimmy Harley. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at home.
