Claude C. Cowan, Jr., M.D. 89, of Easley, passed away November 23, 2010, at his residence.
Born in Nashville, TN, Dr. Cowan was a son of the late Claude C. Cowan, Sr., and the late Margaret Hays Cowan. He graduated from Vanderbilt University. During World War II
he served in the Medical Detachment III Corps Headquarters in Europe. In 1950 he married Katherine Flora Keen of Helenwood, TN. Dr. Cowan attended the University of Tennessee School of Medicine. After graduation, pediatric house staff training followed at Vanderbilt University Hospital and Greenville General Hospital. Dr. Cowan was a member of the Christie Pediatric Group in Greenville, SC until his retirement. He worked part-time with the Beaufort County Health Department. Dr. Cowan was a resident of the Foothills Presbyterian Home and a member of Easley Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife, Katherine K. Cowan of the home; two sons, Samuel K. Cowan and wife, Sandra, of Marietta, GA, and Walter W. Cowan of Greenwood, SC; and a brother John W. Cowan and wife, Dakie, of Nashville, TN.
A memorial service will held at 3:00 pm Sunday, November 28, 2010, in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum of Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.
