David W. Edmonds
David Wayne Edmonds, 85, of Simpsonville, husband of Carolyn Cook Edmonds, died peacefully on Friday, September 20th 2013.
He was born September 28th 1927 on a farm near Winchester, Kansas, the son of the late James and Leona Housh Edmonds. He was a U.S. Navy
veteran of World War II
. He received a degree in Electrical Engineering from Kansas State University.
He was employed initially by Gustin-Bacon, then PPG, then Bishop & Associates, an international fiberglass plant construction firm. He was site manager on the construction of fiberglass plants in England, Yugoslavia, Romania, the Soviet Union and Venezuela.
He was a member of Mauldin United Methodist Church, a Mason, a member of Scottish Rite and the Shrine.
He was married to Carolyn Elizabeth Harman in September 1949, who preceded him in death in 1973. He married Carolyn Cook in Topeka, Kansas, in 1975.
A daughter, Linda Sue Upshaw, predeceased him in 1980.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, Steven Dale Edmonds and his wife Alice, their son Jason and daughter Bea of Boston, Massachusetts; his son J.D. and three daughters, Jade, Lawryn and Kendy of Valley Falls, Kansas, and two daughters, Annie and Heather, of Greenville South Carolina; five great grandchildren; a brother, J. Harlan, of Topeka, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate his life will be Tuesday, September 24 at 3:00pm at The Mackey Mortuary with the Reverend Smoke Kanipe officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary.
