Delores C. Whitmore
Delores Catherine Whitmore gave up the ghost May 29, 2014. Born on March 18, 1929, it was a date she was never to forget.
"Del," as she was called, was the daughter of immigrants. Her father Godfried August was from Latvia and her mother Catherine Mackey emigrated with her parents from Puerto Rico.
Growing up in Arlington, Virginia, she attended Madison College where she met the ever dashing Paul Whitmore. Del never looked back as she journeyed on her way to a life of 67 years with him. She was a passionate gardener, always planting and pruning by the signs of the Moon. Del was a "Fox News" junkie, as well as being active in Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She loved the game of Bridge, adored her pets - always with one by her side, and adored her "girl friends". She is survived by her loving daughter, Kathy Slayter and her grandchildren, Matthew, Justin and Christine.
She will be laid to rest alongside her husband and son in a private graveside service at Florence National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Aldersgate United Methodist Church or Interim Hospice.
May she rest in peace. The Mackey Mortuary.
