Frances Rookard McKinney died on Saturday, September 14, 2013. She is survived by her husband, James McKinney, Jr; two daughters, Patricia Sullivan of Simpsonville, SC and Cheryl M. Berry (Charles) of Mauldin, SC; one son, Darrell McKinney (Elease) of Easley; one sister, Wilhelmina Henderson of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her passing a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and her loving caregiver, Charlene Ramsey. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Helen Rookard; three brothers (Edward, Clyde and Tommy) and one sister (Louise).

Mrs. McKinney joined Mt. Moriah Baptist Church over thirty-seven years ago. She was an active member and attended as often as her health allowed. She remained a faithful supporter of the Teen's Ministry and other outreach ministries and projects. She truly loved her church family.

She spent most of her adult life traveling with her husband to different military assignments around the world. After military retirement, they returned to Spartanburg and eventually settled in Moore, SC. She retired from Flowers Bakery in Spartanburg.

The family of Mrs. McKinney will receive friends at the home of her sister Wilhelmina Henderson, 229 Georgetown Ct, Moore, SC 29369 on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 18th at J.W. Woodward Funeral Home, 594 Howard Street, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Mrs. McKinney will be presented for viewing and family members will be available for visitation at 1:00 pm prior to the service. Burial will be at Heritage Memorial Gardens.
