Horace Owen
1924 - 2013
Greenville
Horace Owen died on Thursday, January 17, 2013. He was born in Danville, VA on October 15, 1924 and is the son of the late Henry and Sudi Owen.
Horace proudly owned and operated for 47 years the Amoco Gas Station on the corner of Stone Ave. and Main Street.
Horace was a man who never met a stranger and will be greatly missed by the multitude of friends he made throughout his life. Frequently referred to by his friends as "The Governor" or "The Punkin Man" (in reference to the huge pumpkin patch he would have every year at his gas station), there wasn't a face he didn't know or a name he didn't recognize. Horace filled the hearts of everyone around him with his sweet smile and infectious laugh that will be remembered and cherished forever.
A memorial will be held at The Phoenix Inn on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. with a celebration of life to follow.
Donations are being accepted c/o Allen Clardy, 1001 East Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
