Howard E. Helferich, 86, devoted husband for 60 years of Virginia Jones Helferich, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2014.

Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of the late John Matthew and Elizabeth Maurer Helferich.

He was a graduate of the University of Cincinnati. Howard retired as Vice President of Manufacturing for Surgical Appliance Industries in Cincinnati with 34 years of service. He served for two years in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Greer.

Services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Covenant United Methodist Church in Greer, with the Reverend Darren Hook officiating. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5 to 7:00 p.m. at The Mackey Mortuary.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, John and Lynn Helferich of Rockport, MA; daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Tony Davis of Greer, and Ann and Greg Curtin of Knoxville, TN; a brother, Wilbur Helferich of Greer; a sister, Ethel Sattler of Petoskey, MI; and six grandsons.
