James Samuel Turner, 83, husband of Lucille Goldsmith Turner, went home to be with his Lord and Saviour, Saturday, October 12, 2013.

James was born in Greenville County, son of the late Reverend John Thomas Turner and the late Maude Shelton Turner. He was retired from the supply room at J. P Stevens Company in Marietta and he was a member of Marietta First Baptist Church and The Men's Adult 5 Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lucille Goldsmith Turner of the home, daughter, Judy Swilley (Ray Welch) of Easley and son, Don Alan Turner, Sr. (Suzi) of Greenville. Also surviving are four grandchildren, John Briggs (Christel), Jenny Smith (Chris), Alan Turner, and Adam Turner.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his brothers, Reverend Calvin Turner, and J. B. Turner and his sisters Corrine Turner Darnell, Lillie Mae Turner Duncan and Jackie Turner Fowler.

The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 6:30 PM Monday, October 14, 2013 in the sanctuary of Marietta First Baptist Church, Marietta, SC with a service to celebrate his life following at 7 PM with The Reverend Bennie Durham and The Reverend Scott Holtzclaw officiating.

Burial will be 11AM Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at Coleman Memorial Gardens, Travelers Rest, SC.
