John Coleman(1952 - 2013)

John Ray Coleman

Simpsonville

John Ray Coleman, 60, husband of Mary Allen Sowell Coleman, died quietly at home with his family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, January 6, 2013.

Born in Charlotte, NC, he was the son of the late Betty Mae Davenport.

Mr. Coleman was a Civil Engineer and was of the Presbyterian faith. He was active in the Mauldin youth baseball program for many years. He was an avid Tarheels fan who loved the beach and fishing.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Scott Coleman, of Simpsonville; a sister-in-law, Carole Hall and husband Donny of Columbus, NC; a niece, Amy Allman and husband Alex, of Tuxedo, NC; a nephew, Neil Hall, of Atlanta, GA; and his beloved sidekick, Boomer.

Visitation will be held Thursday, January 10, 2013 from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681. A memorial service will follow at 3 p.m. in the Southeast Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mauldin Recreation Department, P O Box 249, Mauldin, SC 29662.
