Lois G. Hewitt, wife of the late William L. Hewitt, and mother of Leah D. Hewitt, died on November 14, 2013 of cancer.

Born in Royalton, Illinois in 1928, Lois was the daughter of the late Ernest and Leah Pierce, and sister of the late Irene Wohlwend and Ruth Stuart. She received her B.A. at Soutern Illinois University, majoring in physical education.

She and Bill Hewitt, a civil and mechanical engineer, married in 1948 and their daughter Leah was born in 1950.

The family lived in Ohio for several years before moving to Le Havre, France where Lois learned to speak French. After returning to Ohio for several years, she and Bill moved in 1977 to Greenville, South Carolina.

Lois was an expert bridge player, a bowler, and an avid tennis player who also enjoyed playing the piano and painting. Upon her husband's death in 2008, she moved to the Rolling Green retirement community in Greenville where she lived five very happy years with many friends and helpers.

She is survived by her daughter, Leah, and her son-in-law Kevin Clark, and nephews and nieces, Lee and Steven Wohlwend, Susan Dellavalle, Mike and Rob Stuart.

A brief memorial service will be held at Rolling Green Village, 1 Hoke Smith Boulevard, Greenville, SC 29615 on Tuesday, November at 19th at 3PM . Donations in Lois's name may be made to Ark Hospice, 101 Grace Drive, Easley, SC 29640.
