Marvin Burns


Marvin Burns, 91, went to be with the Lord, Friday evening, April 26, 2013.

He was born in Greenville, to the late William and Pearl Burns.

He was a US Army veteran and served in WWII, fighting in South Africa, Italy, Normandy, and in the Battle of the Bulge. He received the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the Ardennes campaign.

He is survived by his wife, Frances Gulley Burns, three sons, Doug (Sylvia) Burns, John (Carol) Drake, and Jeff (Jennifer) Drake, all of Greenville, a daughter-in-law, Anne Burns, of Powdersville, 16 Grandchildren, and nine Great-Grandchildren.

Along with his parents, Marvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Sarah King Burns, and a son, Richard "Dick"Marvin Burns.

A funeral service will be held Monday, April 29, 2013, at 2 :00 PM, at Victory Chapel Baptist Church, burial with Military Honors will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service in the Church.
