Richard Garrett "Rich" Martin
Richard Garrett "Rich" Martin, 23, died Friday, April 12, 2013 in Charleston, SC.
Born in Greenville, he was the son of Bradford Neal and Gwendolyn Garrett Martin of Greenville.
Mr. Martin was a 2008 graduate of Eastside High School and was a senior at the College of Charleston majoring in Business Administration.
Surviving, in addition to his parents, are a brother, Neal Martin; grandparents, Ozie L. Garrett and his wife Marlene; aunts and uncles, Laurie and Andy Hunter; Beth and Patrick Patterson, Jeffrey and Sue Martin, Peter Martin, Matthew and Wendy Kirchner, Stacey and Bill Calogero; and cousins Olivia Weatherly, Elliott Hunter, Kathryn Patterson, Ryan Patterson, Jason Martin, Megan Jacobsmeyer, Lily Martin, Jamie Martin, Conrad Kirchner, Hannah Kirchner, Tory Calogero, and Angela Calogero. He was predeceased by his maternal grandmother, Donna Garrett; paternal grandmother, Hutson Kirchner, and paternal grandfather, Richard N. Martin.
Rich was an adventurer and his goal was to visit as many countries as possible. He had enjoyed a great deal of foreign travel, including trips to Mexico, Peru, Belize, Costa Rica, Spain, Scotland, England, Dubai, and St. Barthelemy. He was looking forward to participating in the 2013 College of Charleston graduation ceremony in the historic Cistern Yard. Rich had an extensive knowledge of cars and was in the process of restoring his 1995 Nissan 240. Rich enjoyed hanging out with friends, snow skiing, and visiting Hilton Head for family vacations. Rich had a tender-hearted side, and especially enjoyed his "cuddle time" with his beloved cats, Skittles and Salem.
Visitation will be held Monday, April 15, 2013 from 6 - 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at 3 p.m. at Grace Church Downtown, 101 West McBee Avenue, Greenville.
