Samuel M. Keese
Samuel Marion Keese, 79, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at his home while surrounded by his family.
Born in Anderson County, SC, he was the son of the late Hison and Hazel Keese. Mr. Keese graduated from The Boys High School in Anderson in 1951, enlisted in the United States Air Force
in 1952, where he spent 4 years on active duty, serving as an Air Traffic Controller. During part of his service, he was stationed in Germany. Mr. Keese was retired from the Federal Aviation Agency where he worked as an Air Traffic Controller at the Greenville Downtown Airport and GSP for 25 years. True to his long desire, he opened the first off course golf shop, Sam's Pro Shop, in 1976. He joined Green Valley Golf Club in Greenville where he was an avid golfer, met many endearing friends, and was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ann M. Keese; daughters: Hope McCorkle (Jim), Karen Nelson (Mark); daughter-in-law: Cherie Keese; brother: Rev. Dr. Jerry Keese (Mollie); sisters: Doris McAlister, Jean Bolt (Wade); grandchildren: Anna Ashby, Staci Keese, Zachary Beale, Samantha Beale, Stevie Keese, Wyatt Nelson, Joseph Nelson; and great-grandchildren: Lucy and Capri.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by a son: Steven M. Keese; and brother: James Keese.
Memorial services will be Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church with burial to be private.
The family will receive friends after the service in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church Building Fund, 405 Wilhelm Winter St., Travelers Rest, SC 29690.
The family will be at the home.
