Thomas E. LaFoy
Thomas Earle LaFoy 83, of Greer, SC went to be with the Lord on, June 24th, 2013 with his wife and daughter Irene by his side, from his Port Charlotte, Fl. home. He was born in Easley, SC on March 9th, 1930 to the late James Henry and Lela May Bates LaFoy.
He is survived by his loving wife Martha King LaFoy. They shared 10 great fun loving years.
Also surviving is a sister-in-law Nettie Lee Bowers; daughter Irene (Bill) Safford Son Thomas E. LaFoy II, son-in-law Cecil Peel and many other men who fondly called him dad; step-children, David (Kim) King, Carol King (Eddie) Brown, Richard (April) King; grandchildren, Floyd Evett Jr. called (Charlie) by his Granny only, (Shannon), Emma (Lewshane) Hall, Wade Evett (Angie), Homer Evett, William (known as Billy) (Heather) Safford, Greg Safford, John LaFoy Jr. (Wendy), Rachel (Marterian) Vance, Thomas (known as "T") (Leigh) LaFoy III, Eileen Overstreet (Rich), James (Rachael) Peel, Shane (Joann) LaFoy, Jace (Cathy) Taylor, Justin LaFoy; step Grandchildren, Taylor King, Nick King, Ashley Morgan, Brooklyn King, and Brandon King; 35 Great Grandchildren and 5 great-great grandsons.
Thomas was preceded in death by his first loving wife of 51 years and mother of his 4 children, Rachel H. Layfoy; his second wife, Polly Carpenter; his beloved son John Martin LaFoy (Joe) also his beloved beautiful daughter, Lela May Peel; brothers, Walter, Claude, and Luther and sisters, Margaret, Ida, Essie and Lillian (Pete).
Thomas loved to dance and play golf with his son. At Christmas time John would dress up like Santa and Thomas in his elf outfit and would go to the Community Ministries and dance and pass out candy canes. You could always find him making other people laugh and having a good time.
Thomas retired form United Mechanical in 1997, he was a superintendent in the construction and HVAC industry. He did the same with B&I Construction. He was the CEO of All Weather Services a residential and commercial HVAC company owned by his late son John and now by John's Son Thomas Earl LaFoy III. He served in the Army
in 1946. Is a 32 degree Mason and is a member of First Baptist Church of Greer.
The family will be receiving family and friends at Wood Mortuary on Poinsett St. in Greer, SC at 2:45- 3:45 p.m. Saturday. The service is at 4.00pm Saturday with burial to follow at Graceland West Cemetery on White Horse Road, with Masonic Rites at the grave site.
Pallbearers are children and grandchildren, with Thomas' Sunday School class, Willing Workers serving as honorary pallbearers.
