Vernon Walker Burns, 80, husband of Mary Wallace Burns for 34 years, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Mr. Burns was born December 28, 1932 in Taylors to the late Herman Burns and Edna Hughes Burns. He retired from Crosrol, Inc. and was a graduate of Greenville Technical College. He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly sports, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He raised game-chickens and collected knives as hobbies. He was an avid reader and a member of Faith Temple. In addition to his wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Evalina "Lona" Dorr; and a brother, John Chasteen.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fletcher Funeral Service, officiated by Mr. Doug Edwards. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in Cannon Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
