Walter Earle Roper, age 81, of Seneca, SC passed on Sunday, November 25th, 2012 at his home. He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Volina Dixon Roper. Mr. Roper was born in Six Mile, SC and later moved to Seneca where he was the former owner of the Roper Ford Dealership in Seneca for 48 years. Daughters include: Margaret Roper Rich, Seneca, Debra V. Roper, Greer, and Patricia Roper Hudson, Tampa, Fla. Mr. Roper was the son of the late John Anderson and Carrie Roper of Six Mile, SC. He is survived by a brother, Dr. John Anderson Roper, Seneca; and sisters: Miriam Roper Vickery, Spartanburg, and Martha Roper Vickery, Easley.

Deceased siblings include: Annie Mae R. Lusk, James Cleo Roper, Alice R. Lattimore, Ruth R. Clyde, Ollie R. Atkinson, Leila M. Roper, and Lillie R. Roper.

Other surviving members include son-in-law Mike Hudson, grand children: Blake, Ashley, Stephen, and Tyler Hudson and Diana R. Hall. Great grand children include Mason, Anna Claire and Burton Hall. Faithful and loving caregivers include Linda Moseley, Larry and Cindy Gilliam.

Mr. Roper was a long time member of Rotary and Seneca Baptist Church. A celebration of his life will be on Wednesday, November 28 at 11:00 AM at Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home and the family will receive friends on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 5:00 - 7:00 PM. Dr. C. Von Reynolds will officiate with burial to follow in Oconee Memorial Park. Brown-Oglesby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
