Wilbur Kent Greer
Wilbur Kent Greer, 77, of Greenville, husband of Carol Kellman Greer, died Wednesday, October 10, 2012.
Born in Todd, NC, he was a son of Zella Graham Greer and the late Plato Whittington Greer.
Mr. Greer graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from N.C. State University and a Master of Business Administration from Furman University. He served in the U.S. Army and then began his career with Union Carbide in Charleston, WV. He retired from Cognis as a chemical engineer. While at Laurel Baptist Church, he served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and drama director. For the past several years, Wilbur was actively involved at Southside Baptist Fellowship and their drama ministry. Mr. Greer was a charter member of the Mauldin Rotary Club
Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are a daughter, Amy Greer Gunter and husband, Jason, of Simpsonville; three sons, Steven Greer and wife, Trina, of Seaford, VA, Kevin Greer of Greenville, and Maj. Stuart Greer and wife, Alicia, of Ft. Jackson, SC; eight grandchildren; a sister, Nancy Greer Radford of Greenville; a brother, James Greer of Greenville; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Friday, October 12, 2012 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main St. Simpsonville, SC 29681, where the funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park.
