Leonard R. Lipowicz, Jr.

Taylors

Leonard Raymond Lipowicz, Jr., 91 of Taylors, SC passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Born in Buffalo, NY, he was WWII veteran with the US Army. He retired from General Electric in Cleveland, OH as a salesman. Following retirement, he and his late wife, Shirley J. Lipowicz moved to Greenville, SC. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Golden Boys with Pebble Creek Golf Club in Taylors. Leonard was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greenville. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Laura and Chuck Sullivan of Buffalo, NY; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a special friend: Atrice Hugley of Taylors. Visitation will be held at 6:30 pm on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Woodlawn Funeral Home followed by a brief service at 7:30 pm in the funeral home. www.woodlawn-fh.com Woodlawn Funeral Home, Greenville

Honor Flight Upstate SC

Honor Flight Upstate SC is very saddened today to learn of Mr Lipowicz's passing. We were looking forward to taking him to Washington DC to see HIS WWII memorial on May 7, 2013. We will instead take an American flag in his memory. May God give peace and comfort to his family and friends.

One of the best memories I have with the Golden Boys is meeting and riding with Len on oneof myearly rounds and finding out that he and I had both attended Niagara University,the Purple Eagles. We shared many memories and experiences. Len Niagara with y early contributions matched by his former employer, GE. with great generosity and pride. I was priviliged to be playing with him the day he shot an 88 just after he turned 90.He was one of the most gracious good natured men I have ever met and as I follow him into these senior years I hope I can do it with as much class and grace as he did. I will miss my special friend Len Lipowicz, as will the Golden Boys, who held him in such high esteem. Len was light hearted would give you the shirt off hid back, and always looked forward to a new day on the course, or at dinner with his friends.
