Alice Racht Obituary
Easley
Alice Griffin Racht, 91, of Easley, widow of Donald James Racht, died Monday, April 22, 2013.
Born in Glens Falls, NY, she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Kathleen Danaher Griffin.
Mrs. Racht attended St. Mary's Academy in Glens Falls, NY and then Siena College in Loudonville, NY. She later worked for John Hancock Insurance Company in Glens Falls and G.E. in Schenectady, NY.
She was a member of the Catholic Church of St. Luke, a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She taught CCD Classes at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in Simpsonville.
Mrs. Racht is survived by daughter, Kathleen Crenshaw (Roger) of Easley; grandson, Travis Crenshaw (Kristen) of Easley; great granddaughters, Janie E. Crenshaw and Alyssa N. Crenshaw; numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, all loved by Aunt Alice; sisters-in-law, Margaret "Peg" Patnaude of Schenectady and Marion Pease Griffin of San Diego; and her God children, Sandra Griffin Lester of Latham, NY, Richard Griffin Nash of Latham, NY, Nancy Griffin Knapp of Dover, DE, Linda Robillard of Schenectady, and David Griffin of Chula Vista, CA.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Joan, Elizabeth, and Frances Griffin and Catherine Nash; and brothers, Thomas, John, David, and Edward Griffin.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 25, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 26, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at the Catholic Church of St. Luke.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Catholic Church of St. Luke, 4408 Highway 86, Easley, SC 29642.
