In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it's the memories of you that are the most precious.

I was Barret's Sunday School teacher when he was in the nursery at Berea First Baptist. He was such an amazing child and grew up to be an amazing man. The Austin family will remain in my prayers during this difficult time. He was a man to be proud of and that is a testimony to his parents. We thank you for his service and the pleasure of knowing him.

Having had the opportunity to visit Cuba twice and realize first hand the freedoms we have here in the USA, I do not take Barrett's desire to serve our country lightly. It is because of young men (and now women) who since WWI have defended the freedoms we all take for granted. My sons are able to pursue their dreams because of young men who, like Barrett , have died keeping the USA a free country. There are no words I can say that will comfort you or lessen your pain. All I can say is a simple "Thank You".

May God bless the memory of American hero PFC Barrett Austin; I am most grateful for the last full measure of devotion he offered for my country.
