James William Jones Sr.

James Jones Obituary

James William Jones Sr., 80, of State Park Road, died Friday, Feb. 9, 2001, at Oakmont Nursing Center in Greenville.

Born in Union County, he was a son of the late James Cluff and Janie Harvey Jones. Mr. Jones retired from ARA Food Services, was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of Reedy River Baptist Church, where he was a deacon, held other leadership offices and was a member of the Roy Bridwell Sunday School Class.

Surviving are his wife, Thalia Batson Jones; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Norma Jones of Belmont, N.C., and Rudy and Doris Jones of Greenville; a granddaughter, Emily Jones; a grandson, Barry Jones; sisters, Mildred Jones and Dorothy Jones, both of Duncan; and a brother, the Rev. C.W. Jones of Greenville.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Reedy River Baptist Church, with burial at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. tonight at The Howze Mortuary.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Roy Bridwell Sunday School Class.

Memorial may be made to Renovation Fund, Reedy River Baptist Church, 871 By Pass 25 North, Greenville, SC 29617.

The family will be at the home.
