Nicolas Rothenberger

Nicolas Rothenberger, 33, of Greer, SC died July 15, 2013 at his home.

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and raised in Paoli, PA and Greer, SC, he was the son of Leonard and Teresa Rothenberger. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton High School in Greenville, and worked at Bi-Lo, Publix and Piedmont Skills.

Nick was involved in Special Olympics of South Carolina and of Pennsylvania before that. He especially enjoyed swimming, skiing, and ice skating. He competed in the Special Olympics World Games in Nagano, Japan in 2005, where he earned a Gold Medal in individual ice skating. Nick spent many summers at Camp Spearhead, a place he loved dearly.

Nick is survived by his parents, Len and Teresa Rothenberger of Greer, SC, and his sister, Cecilia Showalter, brother-in-law Jeff Showalter of Ashburn, VA, and Henry and Audrey Showalter.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 18th, 2013, at 2 pm, at. St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, 2252 Woodruff Rd., Simpsonville, SC 29681, conducted by Rev. Joseph V. Romanoski.
