Annie Ruth Barton Sanders


Annie Ruth Barton Sanders, 88, widow of Roy Barton Sanders, Jr., died Tuesday, April 2, 2013.

Born in Greenville on November 19, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Zula Turner and Fredrick DeRow Barton. She was a 1941 graduate of Greenville High School and Draughn's Business College.

Mrs. Sanders was a member of Sans Souci Baptist Church where she was a member of the adult choir, Seekers Club and WMU. She was also a member of the Upstate SC Singleton's Club, an active member of Senior Action and the Legacy Choir at Taylors First Baptist Church. She was involved in many activities, including The Lib Ryan Dance Club and The Alley Cats.

She was an employee of Stone Manufacturing Company for 25 years as an Executive Secretary.

Surviving are two daughters, Beverly Bracken (Richard) and Vickie Huskey (Stan); grandchildren, Rick and Georgia Bracken, Page and Ken Dickson and Brad and Audrey Bracken all of Easley, Trissie and Hilary Huskey of Greenville, Adam Huskey of New York, NY; great grandchildren, Stevie Bracken, Savannah Grace and Brooklyn Bracken, Matthew and Taylor Dickson of Easley; sister-in-law, Irene McGee of Bessemer, AL; niece, Jackie McClain of Hoover, AL; and nephews, Nickey and Johnny Barton of Mauldin.

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 6, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown. The funeral service will be held Sunday, April 7, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow in Graceland Cemetery, West.

Memorials may be made to Sans Souci Baptist Church, 3100 Old Buncombe Road, Greenville, SC 29609.

The family will be at the residence.
