Arthur Carl Wokeck, 87, formerly of Mauldin, SC went home to be with his Lord on Monday, June 24, 2013.
A resident of Richard M. Campbell Veterans Nursing Home for the past two years due to his declining health; he served in the Pacific during WWII, where he earned the Bronze Star. He worked in research and development for the garment industry most of his adult life and retired from Clinton Industries of NJ in Mauldin in 1999. Prior to his illness, he was an active member of Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church, the Witness Sunday School Class, and the Chancel Choir.
Born in Chicago, IL, to the late Herman and Christina Boecklin Wokeck, he was also preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth Kohler Wokeck; daughters: Cheryl Price (Edward); Susan Eastland (Newell); and Donna Joy Wokeck; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church in Greenville, SC on Sunday, June 30, 2013 from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Services will follow at 3:30 pm at the church.
Burial with military honors will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, July 1, 2013, at the M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson, SC.
In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to Bethany Christian Services, 114 Williams St., Ste A, Greenville, SC 29601.
Sosebee Mortuary and Crematory, Downtown Chapel, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
