Deanie Foster Obituary
Greenville - Deanie Barrow Foster (102) died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital.
Born on August 31, 1915, she was the last remaining child of the late James L. Barrow and Catherine Keels Barrow. She spent her young life in the Connie Maxwell Children's Home in Greenwood. She moved to Greenville in 1933 and became a cosmetologist at the salon at Ivey's department store and, later, in her own salon constructed by her husband, the late Paul W. Foster. She had no children but had many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly and disciplined regularly. Deanie was the oldest member of the Reedy River Baptist Church where she served for many years as organist. She had an uncommon love for animals, especially cats, and an uncanny knack for attracting them. A genuine steel magnolia, she also loved knitting, crossword puzzles, butter pecan ice cream, and anything pink.
She is survived by Harvey Belue, nephew, of Union, SC; Jane Barrow, niece, of Atlanta Ga.; Dee Patton, niece (husband Pat) of Jacksonville, Fla.; Cynthia Finney, great-niece, of Surfside Beach, SC; Jerry Belue, great-nephew (wife Donna) of Spartanburg, SC; Lowell Belue, great-nephew (wife Donna) Lilburn, Ga.; Carol Jacobs, niece; Rufus Jacobs, nephew; Billy Jacobs, nephew; Luveen Laviner, niece-in-law; and by a legion of friends who carry her memory in their hearts.
Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings Bertie Belue, Phillip Barrow, Grace Barrow Huxford, Hazel O. Barrow, James Barrow, and Raymond Barrow.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Reedy River Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Reedy River Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 871 By Pass 25 North, Greenville, SC 29617, or Greenville Humane Society, 305 Airport Rd., Greenville, SC 29607.
