Don Chastain

Don Marshall Chastain, 64, husband of Debbie Holliday Chastain for forty-two years, left this Earth on February 20, 2013 and joined his parents and loved ones in his eternal house in heaven. He courageously battled an extended illness for nine months.

Don was born on August 12, 1948 in Greenville, SC to the late Clay Chastain and Hazel Timms Chastain. He had lived in the Wren Community all of his life. Don retired from Michelin (Sandy Springs Plant) after 30 years of service in 2007.

Surviving in addition to his wife are son, Kevin Marshall Chastain (Paige); daughter, Darla Chastain Bryant (Ernie) all of Piedmont; five grandchildren who were the light of his life, Brooks Beacham, Savannah Chastain, Cole, Kerigan, and Carson Bryant, all of Piedmont; special brother, James Chastain of Piedmont; and special sister, Dot Chastain Jones of Greenville.

Don was a member of Marathon Church of Powdersville for over eight years. He had previously served in the media area of the church. He was a dedicated volunteer firefighter at Wren Fire Department (Anderson County) for thirty-nine years and was the last charter member remaining. He remained active until he became sick. Don loved the fire service and was dedicated to serving the community.

Visitation will be held from 1:00-2:30 pm Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.

Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 pm with Revs. Roy McCall and Eddie Cox officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wren Fire Department, P.O. Box 461, Piedmont, SC 29673 or to the (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma), 154 Milestone Way, Greenville, SC 29615.
