Donald McCain Green


Donald McCain Green, 84, of Greenville, husband of June Sauls Green, died December 10, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital, Downtown.

Born September 10, 1928 in Greenville, he was the son of the late Willie (Bill) and Lila Bridges Green.

Mr. Green graduated from Westville High School in 1946 before entering the United States Air Force on February 4, 1947.

He was a faithful member of City View First Baptist Church for seventy-two years, and a former deacon of the church. Don was a member of the Ansel Pruitt Memorial Sunday School Class and was a driver for the church bus ministry.

He was a member of Judson Masonic Lodge #319, the Scottish Rite, Hajaz Shrine, and Travelers Rest Eastern Star # 0172.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son Michael W. Green (Sue); step-sons, Dale Nash (Susan), Dean B. Nash (Diane); grandson, Scott Green (Tracy); granddaughter, Kimberly Lee (David); step-grandson, Jason D. Nash; step-granddaughters, Joye N. Latham (Derek), and Deanne N. McDowell; great grandchildren, James "JJ", Allie, Brittney, Amedala, Jessica; step-great grandsons, Austin, Zachery, Andrew, Dalton, and Blaise; step-great-granddaughters, Kaylin, Maci, and Jaci; great great granddaughter, Karma Joy; sisters, Brunnell G. Thomas, Joan G. Posey, and Gail G. Foster (Gene); and aunt, Mildred Green Lister.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Lesley Green; grandparents, John M. and Jeanette Mears Green, Jessie Alexander and Cora Fowler Bridges; brother, Morris Heyward Green; brothers-in-law, Jewel A Posey, and James "Jim" Thomas.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2013, from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held at City View First Baptist Church on Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Graceland West Cemetery. The Reverends Mike Runion and C.W. Jones will officiate.

Flowers will be accepted, memorials may be made to City View First Baptist Church, 2300 W. Blue Ridge Drive, Greenville, SC 29611.
