Eddie Watson Seigler, Jr., "Buddy," formerly of Greenwood, S.C., passed away November 15, 2013 after a period of declining health. A devoted husband, father, brother, and son, he was born in Greenwood on February 3, 1927, the son of the late Eddie Watson Seigler and Alma Rice Seigler. A Greenwood High alumnus, he graduated from Clemson College in 1949 with a B.S. in textile manufacturing. At Clemson he was a member of Phi Psi, an honorary textile fraternity. and a member of Mu Beta Psi, an honorary music organization consisting of the Glee Club, Concert Band, and Military Band members. He served in the United States Navy during World War II and later in the Naval Reserves where he was commissioned as a Lieutenant, J.G.

Early in his career in 1953, he moved with his young family to Summit, NJ and worked in New York City for Woodward, Baldwin & Co., and later for Erwin Mills, a division of Burlington Industries, Inc. He returned with his family to South Carolina in 1967 as Director of Quality Control, Fabric Research and Development for Abney Mills.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Greenwood where he served as deacon, a member of the choir, and a member of the John Knox Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Greenwood and active over the years in his community in a myriad of ways: in his children's schools, Boy Scouts, Little League, YMCA, and the Chamber of Commerce. In his day he enjoyed playing the trumpet, the piano, singing in the glee club and choir, reading good books, playing tennis, swimming, taking long walks, and Clemson football. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family.

Eddie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Martha Cary Bray Seigler; his three children, Eddie W. Seigler, III and his wife Shirley Barnes Seigler of Greenwood; Cary Seigler Walker and her husband, G. Herman Walker, III of Travelers Rest; and Thomas B. Seigler of Jacksonville, FL; four grandchildren, Meredith Walker Gower and her husband, Brad of Greenville, George H. Walker, IV of Denver, CO; Chloe M. Seigler of Tallahassee, FL, and Sarah K. Seigler of Clemson, SC; and one great-grandchild, Bradford "Ford" Jennings Gower, Jr. Also surviving are his brother- in-law, Thomas P. Bray, Jr. and his wife, Almera of Washington, NJ, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sister, Dorothy Seigler McAlister and brother, Richard Luther Seigler.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 19 at Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Greenwood Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held at 1:00 prior to the service.
