Edna Rodgers Garren of Taylors, SC, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2012.
Born in 1926 in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late John Robison and Sunie Green Rodgers. Mrs. Garren retired from the Greenville News. She was a lifelong member of East North Street Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ruth Bible Sunday School class and served as the pianist in years past.
Mrs. Garren was predeceased by her loving husband of 59 years, Charles Benjamin Garren, as well as four sisters and four brothers. Surviving are three daughters and their husbands: Nancy and Bill Stevenson of Greenville, Charlene and Keith Barber of Jefferson, GA, and Dale and David Wade of Greer; her son, Ben, and his wife Michele Garren of Atlanta; six grandchildren: Brandon Wade and his wife Rebecca, Jennifer, April, and Julia Wade, Daniel Barber, and Caroline Garren; and brother-in law, Rev. Wilton Maxwell. In addition, Edna considered her niece Susan Presher, her husband Clay, and their daughters Virginia and Amy part of her immediate family.
Services will be held at noon on Friday, Noveber 23, 2012, at The Mackey Mortuary and will be preceded by visitation at 11:00 AM. A private burial will follow in the East North Street Baptist Church Cemetery.
