Edward Lee Jones, 89, died Friday, July 26, 2013. Born in Washington, NC, he was the son of the late William Franklin and Betty Elizabeth Baker Jones. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by his wife and soul mate Janie L. Reeves, his beloved dog "Princess" and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jones served in World War II in the Merchant Marines, and retired from the Navy after 26 years as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He retired from the Greenville County School System after 19 years as Media Specialist. He also worked at ETV. He volunteered at Meals on Wheels for eight years. He was a past member of the Starlighters Square Dance Club, the Moose Club and Senior Action. He was a member of Brushy Creek Baptish Church, Fleet Reserve and the VFW.
Mr. Jones loved emailing on his computer (staying in touch with friends, nieces and nephews), playing his harmonica at Bingo and playing Rummikub with a friend on Friday nights. He enjoyed attending Healthy Self, at Saint Frances three times a week since 2005, where he had many friends who brought great joy to his life.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at 11 AM, with the funeral service and Military Honors following at 1 PM at Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Old Spartanburg Rd., Taylors, SC.
