She died on Sept. 28, 2013 in Southport, NC at the age of 102.
As a child she was an unusual musical talent. While a student at Syracuse she met her future teacher and husband, composer-pianist George Mulfinger. They were married after her graduation in 1931. Mrs. Mulfinger continued her studies at the Juilliard School of Music and performed frequently as a pianist in the Central New York State area. During her years in Syracuse, she raised her three sons while teaching piano privately at home. She retired to St. Augustine, Florida in 1980 with her husband, and spent her later years in Greenville, SC and Auburn, NY to be closer to family members.
She is survived by two sons, David Robert and William Bruce, both of Southport, NC. The eldest son, George Mulfinger Jr., passed away in 1987. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.
