Franklyn Allen Obituary

Franklyn C. Allen, Sr.

Greenville

Early Sunday morning, September 9th, Franklyn Curtis Allen Sr., was called home to his Creator.

Born on August 12, 1947, at Walter Reid Army Hospital in Ft. Meade, MD. He was the son of Daniel Athan Allen and Virginia Allen. He grew up early in Germany after WWII. He attended Greenville High School. Later Clemson University '69 where he met his wife Claudia Allen. He honorably served his country with the Army, in the Medical Service Corps, from 70' - '72. Then continued to the University of Georgia for Veterinary Medicine.

Among many other accomplishments, he was able to achieve his vision when he opened Allen Arms and Indoor Range. This grew into something he could have never imagined and was humbled by the response. He was especially proud of his weekly newsletter that almost 4000 people accepted. Here, he could pursue his passions: teaching and shooting.

He was a shining example of perseverance and determination. Frank spoke the truth, did what he said, and was a father figure to multitudes.

He is survived by: two sons, Franklyn Curtis Allen Jr. (April) and Claude Andrew Allen (Kelsey), Claudia Allen, two loving grandchildren Ansley and Brett and two brothers Dan and Bruce Allen.

A good man....A strong man was returned home yesterday. He was an outstanding father. He loved his family and his country. He will be deeply missed by those who had the privilege to know him.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 until 9pm at The Howze Mortuary.

Funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Greenville Humane Society.

Online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.thehowzemortuary.com.

Dear Allen Kinfolks,
The news of my first cousin Frank's death comes with sadness. Although we in Texas didn't get to see Uncle Athan, Aunt Virginia, and their three sons very often, I remember the three boys who were close to my age when they visited us in Meridian. I pray that God's grace, and peace will help you through the days and weeks ahead.

I was so shocked to hear of Frankie's passing! He visited Brother, Ed in Houston not long ago and I was able to go over and spend a little time with him. We also kept in touch with emails and Facebook. Smart guy. I will miss him and know all his brothers and family will to. So Sorry he's gone. He was my first cousin; I'm the 3rd son of Jack R. Allen,
