Hilda Rebekah Compton Thomas, 83, went to heaven on September 27, 2013.

Rebekah was born on August 29, 1930 in Madison County Georgia to the late Ellis Dewey and Eula Mae Patten Compton.

Rebekah graduated from Madison County High School in 1947 and Emmanuel College (GA) in 1949, then moved to Greenville, SC and studied at Holmes Bible College. She was a retired rural carrier for the USPS, loved music, flowers, gardening, cooking, and served in the church and community as a Bible Study Fellowship leader, choir director, Sunday school teacher, Weight Watchers lecturer, substitute teacher in the Greenville County School District, and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She held offices with the Westcliffe Garden Club, Women in the Church PCA, the Ladies Axillary NACL Branch 439, and sang with the Bach Choir. At Rolling Green Retirement Village, she enjoyed many community activities and new friends. She was an active member of the Calvary PCA Church, former member of Holmes Memorial Church, and Mt. Zion PH Church in Georgia.

Surviving is her loving husband of 58 years, retired postal letter carrier William Bonham "Tommy"

Thomas; children, Robert Lowell Thomas, Cheri Jane Thomas Clayton of Greenville, Douglas Richard Thomas (Denise Carey Thomas) of Danielsville, GA. She was a mother to a grandson, Robert William Thomas and had six other grandchildren, Dixie Lynn Clayton McClure (Ryan), William Douglas Clayton (Jenny), Andrew Ellis Clayton (Stephanie), Jordan Douglas Thomas, Ryan Carey Thomas, and Sarah Katelyn Thomas. She was a great grandmother to William Campbell Thomas, and Ilana Jane Clayton. Also surviving are four sisters, Leah Jackson of Anacoco, LA, Joyce Compton of Greenville, SC, Carolyn (Odis) Graham of Danielsville, GA, Elaine (Hershel) Childs of McDonough, GA and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rebekah was predeceased by a daughter, Rebecca Lynn Thomas Brannon, in addition to her parents and grandparents, William Homer and Mary Lou Simmons Compton, and Henry Thomas and Hattie Lee Moon Patten.

Visitation will be held Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 2:00 p.m.- 4:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Monday September 30, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. at Meadow Cemetery in Comer, GA.
