Horace Homer McKown, Jr.

Greer

Horace Homer McKown, Jr., 86, widower of Earline Tapp McKown, died April 6, 2013 at the National Healthcare of Greenville.

A native of Miami, FL, he was a son of the late Horace Homer McKown, Sr. and Nina McDade McKown, a retired U.S. Probation Officer, owner of McKown's Florist, LLC of Greer, SC, former chairman of the City of Greer Zoning Committee, a member of Greer First Baptist Church, and was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen McKown Lee and her husband, Allen of Greer, SC and one grandchild, Matthew Allen Lee of Greer, SC.

He was predeceased also by a son, David Spencer McKown and two brothers, Robert Forest McKown and George Reid McKown.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Greer First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Rick Ezell and Rev. Dow Welsh. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be William Bomar, Ed Callaham, Timothy Bright, Robert Somers, Tony Tipton and Rickie Wolf.

Honorary escort will be Jim Benson and Sonny Benson

Visitation will be held 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at The Wood Mortuary.

The family is at the home of the grandson.
