Ina Margaret Conner Penoyer, 77, of Greenville, loving wife of John Penoyer, Sr. for 51 years, died peacefully September 20, 2013.
Born in Hot Springs, NC, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Inez Conner.
Ina's greatest joy in life was that of her role of wife, mother, and grandmother.
Ina was a fine basketball player in high school, where she developed a spirit of competition that served her well throughout her life.
Mrs. Penoyer was a graduate of Warren Wilson Junior College and received her Bachelor's Degree from Berea College.
She was a member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, and had previously served as Director of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults at Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, John Penoyer, Jr. and his wife, Ivey, of Peachtree City, GA; her daughter, Kathryn Goodson and her husband, Bruce, of Williamsburg, VA; three grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; a granddog; and two brothers, Ben Conner and Ray Connor.
She was predeceased by her brothers Glenn and Jennings Conner.
A Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2013 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC, with visitation following.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
Burial will follow the service at Graceland East Memorial Park.
