Iris "Dick" Dean Schomer, 80, of Greenville, husband of Nancy Louise Conway Schomer, died Sunday, June 3, 2012.
Born in Connellsville, PA, he was a son of the late John George and Viola Shong Schomer.
Mr. Schomer served in the US Air Force and Army. He was a Sargent First Class in the US Army Reserve (Retired) and served in the Pennsylvania National Guard.
Mr. Schomer retired from the South Carolina Department of Corrections and was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughter, Cynthia Rae Gravely (Franklin) of Liberty; son, Thomas Allen Schomer (Linda) of Cambridge, UK; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a sister, Viola Romel (Louis).
He was preceded in death by sons, Stephen, Donald, and Richard Schomer; daughter, Susan Schomer Blocker; one sister and five brothers.
Recitation of the Rosary will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
