Jack Howard Davis, Sr., 84, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, entered into eternal rest on Friday, July 13, 2012 after a brief, but hard fought battle with melanoma.
Born in Stephens County, GA, Mr. Davis was the son of Lonnie Judson Davis and Effie Savannah Phillips Davis. He graduated from Welcome High School in 1947 and promptly married the love of his life, Doris Virginia King. They were married 61 years until her sudden death in 2008.
Mr. Davis had a long career as an electrician and retired in 1997 as President of Lonnie Davis Electrical Contractors, Inc. having worked there for 35 years. He served as a member of the Board of Directors until his admission to The Haven at Chanticleer in October, 2011.
He is survived by his much-loved children, son, Jack Howard Davis, Jr. and wife, Janice, of Piedmont and daughters, Rebecca Diane Davis Clevenger, and husband, Jackie, also of Piedmont and Joy Lynne Davis Flory, of Easley. In addition to his children, he is survived by his grandchildren, Jason Clevenger, and wife, Carla, Jennifer Davis Moss, Dana Clevenger, Julie Davis Lane and husband, Ted, Jessica Davis Bridwell, Melissa Flory, and Amber Flory. He is also survived by his sister, Frances (Sis) Davis Leeman, of Greenville. He was a great-grandfather of ten, Jacob Davis Clevenger and Jenna Clevenger, Kylie Flory, Jenna, Joshua and Jamison Moss, and Mallory Bridwell, all of South Carolina and Ainsley, Kaylin and Jackson Lane of Tennessee. He was affectionately known to them as "Pops."
He was predeceased by brothers, Lonnie Judson Davis, and W.B. Davis, by sisters, Helen Davis Larsen and Bonnie Davis White and by brothers-in-law, John G. (Jack) Larsen and Charles W. White.
Visitation will be held Sunday, July 15, 2012, from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Monday, July 16, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery West.
