Jacqueline "Jackie" DuBose Black
Jacqueline "Jackie" DuBose Black, 72, of Columbia, died Thursday, February 13, 2014. A graveside service will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Cemetery Saturday, February 15, 2014 in Johnston SC.
Jackie was born February 8, 1942 in Ridge Spring, SC and married the late Dr. Henry Cooper Black, Jr. She was the daughter of the late Rembert W. DuBose and Vera Clarke DuBose.
She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Columbia. She worked as a Realtor, served on the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Law Enforcement Advisory Board and the South Carolina Board of Medical Examiners; she had a love for politics and served on many local and national campaigns. She also helped originate the Lake Murray News.
Jackie is survived by her brother, Rembert Clark DuBose and his wife, Elaine Kneece DuBose; children, Elizabeth "Beth" Black Smith and husband William "Bill" C. Smith, Jr.; Dr. Henry "Cooper" Black III and wife Deborah K. Black; grandchildren, Catherine "Kaki" DuBose Smith, William "Cannon" Smith, III, Henry "Cooper" Black, IV and Carson DuBose Black; nieces, Alysia DuBose Ketchum (Steelman) and Dr. Amanda Dubose; nephews, Ty Black Stone (Tricia) and Denton Black Stone (Brooke)
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.Caughman-Harman Funeral Home, Irmo/St. Andrews Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
