James Edward Beasley

Easley

James Edward Beasley, widower of Eugenia Timmons Beasley, died Saturday, November 16, 2013.

Mr. Beasley was born in Memphis, Tennessee, a son of the late Minor Martin Beasley and John Baptist Beasley.

He attended Memphis State University before serving in WWII with the 28th Keystone Division 110th field artillery battalion, United States Army. His participation at the "Battle of the bulge" earned him a Bronze star.

Mr. Beasley was a life-long Presbyterian; most recently a member of Easley Presbyterian Church where he had served as Elder and as a member of the Stephen's Ministry team.

He also served several years on the board of directors for the Salvation Army. He was a volunteer at United Christian Ministries and Baptist Hospital, Easley.

Surviving are two children, Eugenia Beasley Cochran of Easley and James Edward Beasley, Jr., of Memphis. He is also as was survived by a brother, John Baptist Beasley of Memphis; five grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Beasley was predeceased by a sister, Minor Beasley Johnson Brown.

A memorial service will be held at Easley Presbyterian Church Tuesday, November 19, 2013 at 2:00pm. The Reverend Christie Gravely will officiate. The family will receive friends in the church parlor following the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to United Christian Ministries, 3 Dacusville Street, Easley, SC 29640, or Easley Presbyterian Church, 200 South First Street, Easley, SC 29640.

Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Beasley family.
