Jeannene M. Jeffress

Greenville, SC

Jeannene Mackin Jeffress, 67, Greer, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 8, 2012, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her family. Born in Bethesda, MD, to the late Eugene and Jean Mackin, Jeannene grew up in St. Paul, MN, before moving with her family to Fairbanks, AK in 1961. After initially attending Hamline University in St. Paul, MN, and living for a short time in Nome, AK, she graduated from the University of Alaska - Fairbanks in 1967. Later, she lived in numerous places throughout the United States and overseas, before settling in Greer in 1990.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Richard D. Jeffress; two brothers: Jim Mackin and wife Debbie, and Tom Mackin and wife Katy; her husband's brother David Jeffress and wife Pat; three sons: Scott Jeffress and wife Barb, Chris Jeffress and wife April, and Ian Jeffress and wife Erin; six grandchildren: Hannah, Colin, Julia, Dylan, Riley, and Lia; seven nieces and nephews: Chris Jeffress Stenzel, Stephen Jeffress, Tara Jeffress Wehmeyer, Rufus Mackin, Olivia Mackin, Sara Mackin Mohs, and Emily Mackin; and many other extended family and close friends.

A wonderfully loving and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Jeannene loved to shower family members with gifts and cards at every occasion. She was a dedicated patron of the arts who, along with her dear friend Nancy Holcombe, particularly enjoyed Broadway musicals and classical music. Vibrant - both in personality and appearance - she also loved holidays and spending time with her grandchildren. A long-time substitute teacher at Riverside High School, she made numerous special connections with students, many of which last to this day.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Saturday, December 15, 2012, at Francis Asbury UMC, 1800 E. North St, Greenville, SC 29607. The family will greet friends following the service.
