James H. (Jim) Smart, 79, passed away Friday night, October 11, 2013. A retired history professor at Furman University and longtime member of First Baptist Church, Greenville, he died with dignity at home, suffering little and surrounded by love.
He is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his daughter Susan D'Amato and granddaughter Alexis; his son Rusty and son-in-law C.F. Hawkins; and siblings in Texas and Oklahoma.
The family will hold a small, private memorial service at a later date. In lieu of visiting or flowers, they respectfully request donations in James' name be made to Meals on Wheels, Triune Mercy Center, or the
Cremation Society of South Carolina-Westville Funerals
