Joan Amelia Powell Brown, 68, wife of Kendall "Lagran" Brown, of 1255 Owens Road, died Thursday, April 12, 2012 at her home. Joan a devoted follower of Christ, has now received her wings in heaven. Joan is a shining symbol of bravery, courage, and devotion.
A native of Greenville county, she was a daughter of the late Leo Harrison and Ada Gertrude Breedlove Powell. Joan was a retired personnel manager at Cryovac and a charter member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a sister and her husband, Linda and Wayne Hyder of Campobello, a sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own children.
She was predeceased by two brothers, Vance and Larry Powell.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday at Riverside Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Marcus Buckley and Rev. Phil Whitt. Burial will follow in Wood Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 until 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
The nephews will serve as pallbearers.
The Friendship Class of Riverside Baptist Church will be the Honorary Escort.
The family is at the home.
