John Kenneth Black


John Kenneth Black passed away at home on March 27, 2014. Born in Greenville, SC, he was the son of the late Harold and Phyllis Black.

He is survived by his loving wife, Angie Black; son, Aaron Black; and daughters, Laurel Black and April Pence (David) and their children, Gavin and Mia. Also surviving him are his sister, Marian Van Slooten; and niece, Jodi Birdwell. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Bowen.

A wonderful father, loving husband, and caring friend, John recently retired as President of Catalyst Telecom, a division of ScanSource in Greenville, SC. He joined ScanSource after a long and successful career at IBM, which included various Branch, Regional and Trading Area executive roles. He graduated from Clemson University, where he was a member of the golf team and continued this passion throughout his life. His church home was Trinity Lutheran Church, where he had served on church council, as a Sunday School Teacher, and a basketball coach.

A memorial celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, April 1st, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Greenville with a visitation after the service at the church.

The family requests that memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Greenville Humane Society or to the .
