John Reed Mobley


John "Jack" Reed Mobley, 84, of Greenville, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at his residence.

Born in Kershaw, he was a son of the late Boyce Franklin and Martha Willie Reed Mobley. He served in the U.S. Army and earned his Bachelor of Science Degree from Clemson University. Prior to his retirement, he worked as an Electrical Engineer with Duke Power.

Mr. Mobley was a very active member of Fourth Presbyterian Church. He served as a Deacon and enjoyed participating in the mission trips with Campus Crusades Ministries. He was an active volunteer with Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are two daughters, Anne McGaha (Steve) of Greenville and Alison McGowan (Bryant) of Columbia; six grandchildren, Chris McGaha (Sheryl), Tim McGaha (Lauren), Grady McGaha, and Reed, Harriet, and John Bryant McGowan; and three great-grandchildren, Keely, Kyler, and Lucas McGaha.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Stewart "Mott" Mobley, and brother, Boyce Franklin Mobley, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 14, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at Fourth Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow at the church.
