Joyce Ellison LaStringer, age 77, widow of Thomas M. LaStringer, passed on Thursday, June 20, 2013.

Born in Dublin, GA, she was a daughter of the late Edward Ellison, Jr. and Edna Williams Ellison. She was a member of First Baptist Church Simpsonville where she was the leader of the Widow's Ministry. Mrs. LaStringer was the former co-owner of WFIS Radio and was a volunteer at Hillcrest Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. LaStringer is survived by a son, Joseph Edward LaStringer and wife Michelle; two granddaughters, Victoria Grace LaStringer and Jaylen Avery LaStringer; a step-granddaughter, Jordyn Sullivan Wright; a step-great granddaughter, Blakely Wright; a sister, Edna Grizzell; and four nieces.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church Simpsonville Chapel conducted by Dr. Randy Harling with burial to follow in Toccoa City Cemetery in Toccoa, GA.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Cannon Funeral Home, Fountain Inn.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Simpsonville, Missions Ministry, 3 Hedge Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681 or GHS Auxiliary Light Up A Life Scholarship Fund, c/o Debbie Gresham, Hillcrest Hospital, 729 SE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC 29681.
