Joyice A. (Dickie) Pruitt, 88, of 735 Circle Road, went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 10, 2012 at McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville with his son and granddaughter by his side.
He was born in Woodruff, S.C., the son of the late James A. and Ethel C. Pruitt. He was a retired employee of Homelite Textron and a faithful member of Apalache Baptist Church in Greer for 65 years where he served as deacon and choir member. Mr. Pruitt served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater and was a decorated Veteran.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Linnia (Dale) and Marvin Satterfield of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, John A. and Linda Pruitt of Taylors, Daniel K. and Sheila Pruitt of Greer and Joey (Frank) and Cheryl Pruitt of Lyman; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Pruitt was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years Adah M. Pruitt; his five sisters, Nora Pruitt, Fuller Mae Biggs, Janie Sisk, Bertha Grant and Emma Harris; two brothers, Mose and James Pruitt.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Friday at Apalache Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Eddie Cooper and Rev. Joe Price. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Chad Satterfield, Josh Pruitt, Caleb Pruitt, B.J. Norris, Bryan Carroll, Dale Norris, Eric Wall and Zachary Pruitt.
Honorary escort will be Noah Satterfield, Thomas Satterfield, and Darien Pruitt.
Visitation will be held 1:30-2:30 p.m. Friday at Apalache Baptist Church.
